--R/S CONTESTS--

It is time... for a contest! Contests are just things to kill time, but they offer snazzy ribbons in the end.

SO LETS GET DOWN TO THE BASICS SHALL WEH?

~Contests is basicly like this-- you have to perform moves that your pokemon knows in a stragetic way in order to gain the most points.

~There are FIVE catagories of Contests, Cool, Beauty, Cute, Smart, and Tough.

~Every single move is classifyed into each catagory, and is given a special added effect when you use this the attack in a contest. (Ex-- absorb, smart, makes opponent lose 1 point)

THAT IS THE BASICS. Now lets see each stage of judging.

STAGE ONE-- this is probably the easiest stage there is, yet challenging. You begin by doing a popularity contest. Before the actual contest, you can feed POKEBLOCKS to your pokemon to raise your condition. See POKEBLOCK section below. Depending on how high your condition is for the particular catagory you entered, the audience will state if they like the pokemon or not. You can tell by the heart in the little bubble above thier heads. AS THE CONTEST LEVEL GETS HIGHER, IT IS HARDER TO PLEASE THE AUDIENCE.

STAGE TWO-- This stage is trickier. You are given a starting order depending on who scored the highest on Stage One. Then you begin the 'appeals'. You select a move at the very beginning and then the appeals begin. Each move will get a different reaction from the audience and judge. For example, if you performed a move that makes you OBLIVIOUS FOR THE ROUND, the Judge will make an O sign, and your little box gets an O, and when another pokemon does a DISTRACTING MOVE (causing points to drop), your O stats pervents you from getting the damage. YOU CAN CHECK WHICH MOVE GIVES WHAT EFFECTS BY GOING TO THE FOURTH SECTION OF YOUR POKEMON'S STATS.

There all also several bonuses hidden in this stage. If you hit two moves that work well together (Charge + Thunderbolt, for example) The Judge gets excited and gives you BONUS POINTS. You can tell when you can do COMBO when the TEXT OF YOUR MOVES is red. That particular move that is red shows that you can do a COMBO if you select that move. Another bonus is the AUDIENCE BONUS. If you select a move that corrisponds to the Catagory (Cute move in a Cute contest) it will raise the AUDIENCE level by one. once the Audience level reaches FIVE, the last pokemon to raise it to five gets an addition bonus of 5 (or more!) BEWARE! If you select a move that CLASHES with the catagory (Tough move in Cute contest) the Audience level will LOWER BY ONE. There are certain moves that can BIND the audience level and PREVENT IT FROM RISING AND FALLING. SELECT YOUR MOVES CAREFULLY!

STAGE 3-- Not exactly a stage, its just when we tally up all the points and declare the winner. If its your first time entering that catagory with that particular pokemon in that Particular level, you are rewarded a ribbon. Otherwise, you are rewarded nothing.

--LEVELS--

There are FOUR ranks in a contest, Normal, Super, Ultra, Master.

In each rank, the pokemon you face in the contest have better conditions and combos on thier own. You must be careful! It takes careful planning and strategysing in order to beat the MASTER RANK. If you manage to beat the MASTER rank; always after the first time you clear it, you are rewarded a LUXURY BALL.

Each ranking of contests are held in different locations--

NORMAL RANK-- VERDENTURF
SUPER RANK-- FALLARBOR
ULTRA RANK -- SLATEPORT
MASTER RANK-- LILYCOVE

--POKEBLOCK SECTION--

Okay, this is teh Pokeblock section, with tips on how to blend, churn, and mix up all your berries!

BEFORE YOU CAN MAKE POKEBLOCKS, GET A POKEBLOCK CASE FROM SLATEPORT, TALK TO THE LITTLE GIRL!

Okay, you have to go to a POKEBLOCK MACHINE (located in ALL contest halls, bottom right, square shaped devices) and start mixing! All Berry Blending machines MUST have 2-4 people blending.

First, SELECT a berry. To find which type of berry you have, tap A on 'check tag' option. There you should see a description of your berry, the size, the firmness, and the type.

Spicy- Cool, Dry- Beauty, Sweet- Cute, Bitter- Smart, Sour- Tough.

YOU WANT TO PICK SOFT BERRIES; AS THEY RESULT IN HIGHER LEVELED POKEBLOCKS AND LOWER SMOOTH LEVEL.

okay so after you select your desired berry; the rest of the people you are berry-blending with will chose thier berry (usually the computers will pick a berry to help ENCHANCE your chosen catagory EX- Bluk Berry- Dry and Sweet, Computer A- Chesto Berry- Dry, Computer B- Pecha- sweet) and the berries will fall into the machine, and the lid will then secure.

NOW COMES THE BLENDING PART. The spinner will pass each marker, and your name is labeled beside it. What YOU want to do is click A right as the spinner passes your Marker. Depending on how close your Marker was, you get these, DOUBLE CIRCLE-- right on, SINGLE CIRCLE- Close, X- Off. Every time you get a Double circle or a Single Circle, the speed of the spinner increases. When you have four experts spinning, the spinning can go EXTREMELY fast. If you hit X, the speed will slow down.

After usually 30 seconds, the Pblock should be done! You can check the progress of the Pblock while blending at the top of the screen, where a red bar indicates it's progress. The Pblock is then graded on the- amount of double circles, single circles, and Xs achieved, the highest speed it was blending at, it's time to make, and the berries used.

**THE BEST POKEBLOCKS TEND TO BE HIGH LEVELED, LOW SMOOTH/FEEL.**

To get best results, BLEND AT LILYCOVE. There are THREE blenders waiting for you to blend with. Also, try to use RARE berries to blend, they give BEST results.

HOW TO GET RARE BERRIES--
At the Berry Master's house, Go to the WIFE and unput these words-

SUPER HUSTLE-- you get a BELUE BERRY that raises your BEAUTY Stats.
COOL LATIOS-- you will get a DURIN BERRY, which raises your SMART stats.
CHALLENGE CONTEST -- You will get a PAMTRE BERRY, which raises your CUTE Stats.
GREAT BATTLE-- you will get a SPELON BERRY, which raises your COOL stats.
OVERWHELMING LATIAS-- you will get a WATMEL BERRY, which raises your TOUGH STATS.

**you can only get each of these ONCE. BE SURE TO GROW THEM!**
